Mattel has done it again, creating the iconic Barbie into an Entrepreneur! Not only will the doll be sporting her fashionable entrepreneur look, Mattel also launched the Barbie Business Bursary Program. This program aims to invest in three budding Canadian entrepreneurs under the age of 18. Each of the 3 entrepreneurs will get a $2,500 cash injection to help fund their winning business idea.
With Barbie being infamously known as setting a bad example for young girls everywhere and damaging their self-esteem. I think this is a step in the right direction to help inspire young girls to dream big, and step outside the box. Although I think this is a great idea, there’s been some backlash and mixed opinions on the new Mattel campaign.
