By Lauren | August 8, 2016 | 0 Comment

To continue my series of interviews with young professionals working in the marketing and public relations world, I connected with Rashi Bindra to chat about her experience working in PR with Chmpgn+Cie, which is a restaurant and bar located in Quebec. Rashi also owns her own business, Pearls & Sequence, a social media and events marketing agency working with businesses in both Montreal and Toronto.

Read on about what it takes to balance such a busy lifestyle and Rashi’s tips for you.

Introduce yourself – what should we know about you?

I am from Montreal and now in Toronto, and I am passionate about seeing dreams come true. Usually it’s in the form of business and art which lead me to pursue projects and roles in fashion as well as start-ups. Currently I bring the two together by creating stories via social media and events for companies.

Tell me a bit about your role at Chmpgn+Cie.

My role with Chmpgn+Cie allows me to combine my creativity with the practical business side. I work with their marketing team to come up with creative strategies and events that resonates with the brand itself as well as seek opportunities for brand exposure and proper brand representation.

Tell me a bit about your own business, Pearls & Sequence.

It started out as a lifestyle blog, but now as a social media and events marketing agency Pearls & Sequence really focuses on creating strategies and its implementation. I love what I do and the people I work with; for me this started out as a passion project and now it’s grown. The two main fields are fashion and food because I love to dress up and I love to eat. Pearls & Sequence is represented in both cities, Montreal and Toronto.

What is your educational background or past experience that helped you feel confident in owning your own business and working at Chmpgn+Cie?

Education wise I have a background in economics and fashion as well as social media and brand marketing. I can’t pinpoint which experience but I can say the past three years have been a whirlwind. I think when you overcome the feeling of self-doubt and have even one successful client you build the confidence. It’s all about celebrating the wins and losses.

What does a day-in-your-life look like as a PR Coordinator at Chmpgn+Cie, plus juggling your own business?

I work hand-in-hand with the marketing department to properly represent what Chmpgn+Cie stands for. Whether it’s a special event or a weekly promotion, together we construct a proper execution plan.

I also stay in touch with various types of media outlets such as newspapers or online magazines to announce press releases as well as any important or new information about Chmpgn+Cie. It is not a juggle as Pearls & Sequence works with Chmpgn+Cie in achieving their goals.

What have been necessary skills or experience to be successful in your role(s)?

Excel at what you know best, even if its three or four skills. As an entrepreneur, we do wear multiple hats and its easy for people to get confused or say “ jack of all trades” but truly when you deal with any form of creative industry being a master of one is not enough.

What advice do you have for someone who wants to work for Chmpgn+Cie.

Be open, be passionate and be ready to drink a lot of champagne!
